TASTING NOTES

Sagemoor’s Estate White Blend, from Dionysus Vineyard with its varied soil adds complexity to Semillon. Gamache Vineyard, with old vines planted in 1985, nurtures consistent clusters of Sauvignon Blanc. The blend creates flavors of citrus and melon, with delicate floral aromas. The freshness and vibrancy of the Sauvignon Blanc is balanced by the density and texture of the Semillon, for a long, harmonious finish.

Vintage Story

To gain a crisp, clean Sauvignon Blanc with both tropical fruit flavors and a touch of grassiness – a reminder to us all of that infamous New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but retaining the Washington terrior.  The fruit was picked early in the morning at out Sagemoor and Bacchus vineyards, not only harvest together but pressed together.

TASTING NOTES

From the winery: This wine is a marriage of both Washington and New Zealand styles of Sauvignon Blanc, i.e. fruity but still grassy. Tropical fruits of passionfruit and pineapple mix with apple and the stone fruits peach and apricot on the nose. On the palate, a pleasant mouthfeel with moderate acidity lead to lime, grapefruit, and pear that is secondarily taken over by the variety’s inherent grassiness.

Vintage Story

We started our journey into making wine with a stunning block of red wine grapes in 2014. But the prolific 2016 vintage was the harvest of opportunity to start the creation of this white wine bearing the Sagemoor name. Two extraordinary women — our vineyard manager Lacey Lybeck, and winemaker Ali Mayfield — worked together to bring this dream into vivid life. We couldn’t be prouder.

TASTING NOTES

Begins with aromas of citrus, followed by grapefruit and silky mouth filling viscosity, leading to notes of minerality. The Semillon floats across the palette lengthening the finish in a delightful way. This white blend puts Washington Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon in perfect complementary balance.

2017 Sagemoor ‘Without Rehearsal’ Sauvignon Blanc- The ‘Without Rehearsal’ Sauvignon Blanc was made with 80% new oak prior to bottling. This is the second vintage of the wine. The wine was partially aged in concrete (Semillon). The wine begins with aromas of toasty brioche with shades of banana and Pink Lady apple and marzipan that all build in the glass. The palate shows wonderful texture with cantaloupe, banana and gobs of mouth0water acidity. The freshness here really shines. This has a long life to go in the cellar. Drink 2019-2025

90 Points — Steven Tanzer
Bright medium yellow. Pretty, complex scents of grapefruit, lime blossom and minerals. Fine- grained and edge-free, with citrus blossom flavors complicated by wild herbs. Vinification of the Semillon in concrete “softens the wine’s mouthfeel and pushes the fruit forward,” according to Ali Mayfield, who makes the Sagemoor white wines for owner Kent Waliser. Finishes dusty but smooth. (from Dionysus, Gamache and Bacchus vineyards, the last featuring 45-year-old vines; just the second vintage for this bottling; the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented mostly in barrels and the Semillon in a concrete egg)
