Vintage Story

When contemplating adding another red wine to stand beside our Stars in a Row Cabernet, Kent felt Weinbau Vineyard deserved to be showcased in this new wine. A perfect pairing of Merlot and Cabernet Franc to be exact. When fruit in Weinbau Block 12 Merlot and Block 13 Cab Franc became available in 2016, Kent’s next big decision was to match this fruit with a skillful winemaker…and the perfect match was Chris Peterson of Avennia.

We have worked with Chris since 2010, supplying fruit from Bacchus and Dionysus for his delicious red blends. When we approached Chris, he jumped at the chance for the opportunity to work with not only Weinbau fruit but to work with Miguel Rodriguez. Miguel has been working with these specific blocks since 1997 and his attention to detail is legendary. To match Chris as the winemaker and honor Miguel’s efforts in the vineyard, we came up with the name of our new wine, Miguel the Man.
